On their way to the Big Bang 2015 at Ardingly, ICC was delighted to have the privilege of hosting a visit from Bletchley Park and an Enigma machine. 150 students took part in the workshops that took place throughout the day, learning about different codes, both secret and open, and how codes were used to relay information during wartime. All the students had the opportunity to break a code, and to use the Enigma machine to both code a message then de-code the message.
Jack Eggleden and Lee Cooper (Year 9), Dmitrijs Smetanins and Morrell Sotomi (Year 8) took on the UKMT Maths Challenge held at Holy Trinity School, Crawley. They faced a variety of timed challenges and despite the intense pressure and fierce competition presented by the other nineteen schools, our team rose to the challenge and represented ICC very well. We can be very proud of them!
