STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) related workshops, clubs, visits and activities at Ifield Community College in Crawley.
Due to the re-structuring of Enrichment Week, D&T introduced CREST Awards to our Y8 students who attended STEM Club during the year and Y9 GCSE Product Design students
3rd October – Thales' "Y8 Introduction to STEM day"
12th October - Nuffield Presentation Evening
31st October – Thales' Scratch programming competition launch
1st November - EES launch event at University of Brighton (6 x Y12)
1st December - STEM family challenge / Careers Fair, 6-8.30pm
13th December - Post-16 Arts / Design / Media Conference
14th December - Y9-11 Architecture / Product Design Day at University of Brighton
January (tbc) - "Waste House" (Architecture) at University of Brighton
19th January - STEM family challenge, 6-8.30pm

We currently have 15 ICC students on this scheme
“The Engineering Education Scheme in England & Scotland is an EDT Programme which links teams of Year 12 students and their teacher with local companies to work on real, scientific, engineering and technological problems." (http://www.etrust.org.uk/node/75)
This year 6 of our Y12 students are working with Gatwick Airport on a detection system that continually monitors the Shuttle track identifying oil or debris on the track and which then gives a warning to the maintenance team to allow them to rectify before this becomes an issue.
